Context
Small florists often lacked mobile tools for customers to browse inventory or order custom bouquets for delivery. This gap became urgent during COVID-19 lockdowns, as foot traffic plummeted and local shops needed digital solutions. For a trendy florist in Hyderabad, India, this challenge led to the creation of Aura – a bouquet customization and preview app that brings the in-store floral experience online.
In Aura, customers can browse a wide variety of flowers with real-time inventory updates and customize their own arrangements. They get to preview exactly how their chosen bouquet will look and can seamlessly schedule a one-time delivery or even set up a subscription for regular blooms. The goal was to improve access to personalized floral services and help this small florist thrive online by streamlining ordering and delivery.
My Role
As the sole UX designer on this project (completed as part of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate), I led the design from initial concept through final delivery. My responsibilities spanned the entire design process, including:
Conducting a screener survey to recruit target users (ages 18–40 with flower-buying experience) for research.
Leading user research and journey mapping to identify customer needs and pain points.
Creating sketches, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to explore design solutions.
Conducting usability tests and iterating on the design based on user feedback.
Refining the visual design into a polished, high-fidelity prototype for final presentation.

Drawing all the ideas in my head and understood what works better. Although, it varies so much from the outcome of the application.
Low Fi Prototype
With the help of user stories, flow, and paper wireframes, I began prototyping digital wireframes. During this process, I found that the design had features that were not accessible through the workflow. To address this, I iteratively conducted pilot studies while refining the digital wireframes to match the pilot data and user workflow so that all features were reachable.

Final Mobile Application Design

This is the home screen of the app. The screen balances current features and actions for the user, along with information that can enable future use and encourage returning customers.
Users can browse the store's current inventory.
This section has fresh information about the upcoming flower collections at the store to entice users into using the app again in the future.
A feature that allows users to customize their own flower arrangement based on current inventory.

Conclusion
Aura supports users in creating beautiful flower arrangements with local businesses and purchasing bouquets efficiently online. Through iterative research, development, and design, I have considered users' needs for diverse contexts in each phase and built features that can support users and flower businesses in their goals.
